Cracked corner of foundation discovered on Cypress, TX Home Inspection. Although this looks alarming many times it is not. Corner cracks occur often from when the post tension cables within the foundation are being stressed. They also can be a result of when the final grade in this area is being created with heavy equipment. When conducting a Home Inspection, this would not be ignored. There are several ways to check if this foundation crack is more than cosmetic and is taken very seriously when present. In this case, both the interior and exterior of the structure did not show signs of being effected by the corner crack. Cosmetic repairs can be made with a non-shrink epoxy grout and should be monitored for further cracking and/or movement.
